The Wood ISTJ

Scrub growing through a crack in rock doesn't wait for better soil before pushing upward. That's the old classical direction behind wood. It's also why the Evolving half of this title fits, a type that keeps building even when nothing forces it to. Steadwarden splits into steadfast and warden, a guardian for whatever has already earned its keep. On the structural axis wood and wood ISTJ agree, both building rather than drifting. On the outward axis they split hard. Wood reaches out while wood ISTJ pulls far inward, and that inward pull edges out the agreement by a narrow margin. The result lands as a gap type, but a faint one, closer to a held breath than a real conflict.

The project has just absorbed a second team, and one new hire asks, politely, why the onboarding checklist runs to nineteen steps instead of nine. Wood ISTJ hands over the sheet unchanged and walks through every line in order. Even the two steps everyone privately suspects are leftover from a retired system stay in. Cutting them would save ten minutes a week, and nobody would notice. A fixed slot works better than a decision here. Once a month, twenty minutes, calendared under its own heading, for saying out loud what actually happened that week, not what the log shows. Nothing to fix by the end of it. Just a place where the words that don't make it into the checklist get to exist somewhere.
